V is for VOLUNTEERING…
V is the Youth Volunteering Charity awarded SHYPP in February 2008 funding to get young people in Herefordshire positively involved in their local communities.
The V Project has helped fund up to 150 volunteers since it started who have got involved with the management, delivery and development planning of SHYPP. Here are some of the opportunities available, which have worked well in the past but we encourage new ideas too:
- Staff recruitment –help us choose the right staff members
- Staff training –help us train our staff to understand the needs of young people
- Mystery shopping – test out our services and give confidential feedback on our customer service
- News editor –for our very own ‘SHYPPing Forecast’ newsletter
- School mentor –share your experience of leaving home with school pupils who are part of our Preventative Education Project
- Board member –help SHYPP make really important decisions about the future of our service
Volunteer Celebration Event
A big THANK YOU to everyone that either helped out or just popped down to provide moral support, it was very much appreciated. The day was a great success with 13 of our young people coming along to help out and a further 38 non SHYPP young people taking part.
